Director
"Meditation and daily life practice are a path of discovery because there is something to be discovered. It is called the Nature of Mind, Buddha Nature or the Indestructible Heart Essence. But what is it? That is what we each have to discover within ourselves. The path is the awakening process by means of which we come to recognise it."

Path of Freedom

The Path of Freedom offers an introduction to the basic principles and meditation of Buddhism in general and to the Longchen Tradition in particular. A range of core Buddhist topics are introduced from the unique perspective of the Mahayana Maha-Ati (Dzogchen) View.

Path of Freedom is taught in local group evening sessions, weekend courses and week long retreats by Longchen Foundation teachers. Events happen throughout the year in a number of locations and are open to all.

Path of Freedom is not a structured programme - so you can come to as much or as little as you are able to over a period of time. Topics are chosen to cover a wide range of areas, considered important as a basis for linking into further training with Longchen and as Buddhist context generally. Typical topics at Path of Freedom local groups, weekends and retreats include:

Path of Freedom complements the Lion's Roar and is recommended for those who are considering embarking on the Lion's Roar and for students already training on the Lion's Roar.
