"Meditation and daily life practice are
a path of discovery because there is something to be discovered. It is
called the Nature of Mind, Buddha Nature or the Indestructible Heart Essence.
But what is it? That is what we each have to discover within ourselves.
The path is the awakening process by means of which we come to recognise
it."

Introductory Retreats
Some Path of Freedom and Lion's Roar teaching takes place within short retreats, sometimes organised by local groups or held at our retreat centre Gelli Faia in North West Wales. Retreats are an excellent opportunity to be introduced to and deepen your practice of, meditation.
Gelli Faia Retreat Centre:
Gelli Faia is a beautiful meditation retreat centre where you will find
good food and good accommodation. Gelli Faia is on the outskirts of Porthmadog,
North Wales, at the edge of the Snowdonia National Park.
Some general information that covers introductory retreats:
- All retreats are led by an authorised teacher. There is a mixture of talks and discussion and plenty of opportunity to develop and deepen your practice of formless meditation.
- All retreats include the opportunity for detailed introduction to formless meditation for those new to Longchen.
- There is also the opportunity during each retreat for a one to one meditation interview with the teacher.
- Introductory retreats at Gelli Faia are typically a week long running from Saturday evening to Saturday morning the following week.
- Where particular teachings are to be given (e.g. Lion's Roar Gate 1) these may be concentrated over the first few days of the retreat, making it possible for some people to attend the teachings without necessarily staying all week. Please check with the retreat organiser about this.
- Part of the retreat timetable includes one or two short work activities - for example helping with washing up or chopping vegetables etc.
For more information on any aspect of our introductory retreats at Gelli Faia please contact Pat Macdonald.
