Rigdzin Shikpo Day, 27th April, 2024
Maṇḍala Mother invites you all to celebrate Rigdzin Shikpo’s life and teachings and the future of his lineage on Saturday 27th April at St Margaret’s Institute in Oxford and online:
On 28th April it will be a year since Rigdzin Shikpo passed. Quite an extraordinary year, all ups and downs; a year to reflect and a year to put into practice all the wonderful Mahāyāna Mahā Ati teachings Rigdzin Shikpo has given us.
As the holder of the adhiṣṭhāna of the lineage of Longchen Rabjam and Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Rigdzin Shikpo was the living manifestation of Mahāyāna Mahā Ati, the embodiment of bodhicitta in this world. Rigdzin Shikpo worked with and realised these teachings. He conceived the Indestructible Heart Essence path of training, giving us so much personally, producing texts and instructions which will help and guide us from his understanding and realisation. These teachings provide a proper basis for further teachings to follow. In other words the preliminary, or ngöndro, form the basis for Longchen training. He trained and empowered his long term students to pass on his teachings and to support all students on the Longchen Indestructible Heart Essence path of training.
Rigdzin Shikpo’s emphasis was always to form a strong maṇḍala of training, a Dharma maṇḍalacakra, coming together as a community, working together with equanimity, for the benefit of all.
