New Path of Freedom Courses Starting This Week

Both the Oxford and Bristol Path of Freedom groups are starting new courses this week as we ease into the summer months. Both courses are part of our Path of Freedom programme, a curriculum that is open to all and establishes a basic grounding in Buddhist ideas and practice through weekly classes and occasional weekend teachings with Rigdzin Shikpo and other senior teachers of the Longchen Foundation.

Oxford Path of Freedom Group: Openness, Clarity, Sensitivity

The Oxford Path of Freedom Group meets Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, starting with 45 minutes of formless meditation followed by a teaching and open discussion. They are just beginning to present a series of talks exploring three aspects of the fundamental nature of reality: Openness, Clarity, Sensitivity. All of us have the same capacity for total openness to what we experience, the clarity to see the world without confusion, and the sensitivity to act with gentleness and compassion towards others. This course will explore these three aspects both in our experience and how they occur inherently in the world itself. The teachings will be based on Rigdzin Shikpo’s book “Openness, Clarity, Sensitivity” (available in our bookshop) as well as other teachings Rigdzin Shikpo has given on this subject over many years. This course is taught online via Zoom and to get the Zoom link and for more information, contact oxford@longchenfoundation.org. Bristol Path of Freedom Group: The 84 Mahasiddhas

The Bristol Path of Freedom Group meets Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, starting with 30 minutes of formless meditation followed by teaching and discussion. Next week they will continue with a new series of teachings on the 84 Mahasiddhas. These historic Buddhist teachers attained such high degrees of realization that it is said they were able to fly, travel to hidden lands, and even control the movement of the sun in the sky! Each story is unique and holds special value and inspiration in our own understanding of how to practice on the Buddhist path. This course will be taught by Mary Mackay-James, one of Rigdzin Shikpo’s earliest students, and will be presented online via Zoom. For the Zoom link and more information, please email bristol@longchenfoundation.org.
